West Division

E Construction’s West Division, despite its name, operates throughout Alberta and the Northwest Territories with the exception of the major urban centers in Alberta.  Made up of four semi-independent areas, Edmonton, Slave Lake, Whitecourt, and Peace River, the division is highly versatile and able to respond to client’s needs for any project throughout the region.  The division has an office in each of the areas with the exception of Whitecourt where it only maintains an asphalt plant.  The Whitecourt area is presently managed out of the Edmonton and Peace River offices.

Over the course of the 2008 construction season, a variety of projects including commercial parking lots, subdivisions, city streets, county road paving, small highway projects and airports were completed. The Northwest division specializes in airport construction and to date has completed over 15 various airport projects throughout Alberta and the Northwest Territories, including the Pincher Creek Air Tanker Base, Lac La Biche Airport and Yellowknife Airport in 2008.

Slave Lake Office (E Construction Ltd)

The Slave Lake office has been in operation since 1989.  While maintaining a local presence as a major contributor to the Slave Lake and area paving infrastructure requirements, the operations take in a large part of Northwestern and Northeastern Alberta.  The Slave Lake office negotiates and competitively bids work in the area bordered by Slave Lake, Swan Hills, Westlock, Smoky Lake, Lac La Biche, Wabasca, Red Earth and back to Slave Lake.  We have base crews and paving crews, concrete and underground sub-contractors.  These crews complete projects from driveway paving to small highway overlays, parking lots, streets rehabilitation, and subdivision developments.

Edmonton Office (E Construction Ltd)

The Edmonton office of the Northwest Division opened in 2003 and is based out of the E Construction head office.  The Edmonton office does not complete projects within Edmonton, but instead focuses on the communities surrounding Edmonton which have a very vibrant infrastructure program.  These include Vegreville, Drayton Valley, Barrhead, Strathcona County, Brazeau County and Wabamun.  This area also overlaps into the Whitecourt area and completes projects in Whitecourt, Edson and Hinton as well.

Two base crews and a single paving crew service this area, while three portable asphalt plants supply most of the asphalt for the area.  The 2008 construction season for the Edmonton office was extremely busy with sizeable increases in the amount of asphalt and base placed from the 2007 construction season.

Peace River Office (Ruel Bros. Contracting)

The Peace River office of the Northwest division is not known as E Construction Ltd. but as Ruel Bros. Contracting.  Ruel Bros. was started in 1976 by Dennis and Jerry Ruel.  In 1988 the company was sold to NPA Ltd., and is now currently a Division of E Construction Ltd.  Ruel Bros. Contracting completes projects in the Northwest Territories and Northwestern Alberta and ranges from High Prairie, Whitecourt and Edson in the East to the BC Border in the west and from Yellowknife, NWT to Pincher Creek in the north and south, respectively.
The 2008 construction season saw Ruel Bros. complete its two largest projects to date, the Yellowknife Airport and Pincher Creek Air Tanker Base.
